Blue October (finally) back in the U.S.

Blue October is set to perform two Independence Day shows this July 4 and 5. They will be at WhiteWater Live Music Amphitheatre in New Braunfels, Texas with special guest Meridian West on July 4, and Mother’s Anthem on July 5.

This will be the first live show in the U.S. in almost a year. They did perform a show on May 3 at the Bridgehouse in London’s Canning Town, which was the first gig with their new drummer, Bob Malkowski. On their website they said that having Malkowski on board marked “the beginning of an era for Blue October UK” and that the set was “raw and edgy.”

The band has also just released new Blue October T-shirts (and much more). Get yours at the band’s official store.

A new album is approaching…

lue October is only scheduled for two concerts this summer—July 4 and 5 in New Braunfels, TX. So, if you’re wondering what they’re doing the rest of the summer, you’ll be thrilled to find out that they are hard at work on their fifth studio album, Approaching Normal.

The album is tentatively set to release in September 2008, and will consist of several unreleased songs along with some songs that Blue October and the band 5591 have performed live.

One song that’s being considered for the album is called “Blue Skies.” Justin Furstenfeld, the frontman of Blue October, described it as a happy song, “There’s nothing negative about it. It’s all about beauty. It’s really, really pretty and really, really happy, but it’s going to be rocked out so crazy that people will kind of forget that it’s a lovey, lovey, dovey song.”
